I am Italian. Therefore, I am a pizza
I am Italian. So, am I a pizza?
This question is the very essence of a notion that has been elaborated over the years in many ways. What’s this notion? That food is part of one’s culture and, hence, defines us… a bit like language, really.
Also, since language and food are two of my absolute favourite things… my work with language puts food on my table, literally… I thought “why am I not combining them?”
After finishing my studies in translation, I took a master’s in the anthropology of food… Yes, you heard me right.
Please, don’t ask!
Yes, the course did drain my energy and my bank account, but it also encouraged me to look at food in ways I’d never considered before. So, my mission with this blog is to write about food, language and – why not – translation.
